Founded in 1996, Spargo is one of Auckland's longest running quartets comprising exprienced musicians who reflect the city's diverse music scene.
The groups composer Kingsley Melhuish (Brassouls, The Roughness) takes inspiration from New York innovative and experimental artists John Zorn's Madasa group as well as his brass band training, and other influences.
Chris Watts has his own quartet, Go Blow, and has recorded with Bluespeak among others.
Sam Giles is a busy electric bass player and has recorded with the acclaimed Chris Mason-Battley Group.
Luke Casey, prehaps Auckland's most respected session drummer has had a varied career, recording with Eye TV, and performs with the Relaxomatic Project.
