Although collectively diverse in influences, Nebula One's sound is a solid mix of alt goth rock industrial noise, backed up with solid musical composition.
Latest material released is testament to Nebula One's talent for creating eerie atmospheric soundscapes, that you can dance to.
Not confining themselves to the 3 minute pop wonder, Nebula One make the music they like, turning their back on the mainstream.
Band Members:
Richard Craven (guitar, vocals)
Justin Fricker (guitar)

It's been a long time... Posted: Tue Dec 20, 2005 11:25 am For the last 6 months nebulaone has been working on a new batch of recordings with a view to finally getting off their arses and doing something with them. The Call Your Saint Demo EP (http://www.realgroovy.co.nz/music/id/3049145) launched earlier this year at a Real Groovy instore went largely unnoticed, however it is a favourite of those lucky enough to own it and has even made its way into the set of many DJ's in the Auckland area. The new recordings, set to be released 2006, still contain the same atmospheric groove that nebulaone do well and the recent introduction of a live drummer has given their sound a more organic feel. A rough mix of a new track minus vocals, Deadman, is available for listening at www.myspace.com/wearenebulaone. Enjoy! This message was edited by adrian0476 on Tue Dec 20, 2005 11:25 am. |

RE: Interested in singing for Nebula One? Posted: Tue Dec 14, 2004 12:54 pm Thanks to those of you who have emailed us about this but we've decided to stick to the tried and true formula that we have. Mr. Fish has now been given the go ahead to develop his vocal talents. |

Interested in singing for Nebula One? Posted: Tue Jun 1, 2004 11:46 am Nebula One is looking for an experienced male vocalist. We have no particular style in mind but if you like industrial, grunge and atmospheric type music then you're more likely to fit the bill. You can find out more about us at www.nebulaone.com or by emailing me. I have some demos for interested parties. We have recently secured representation with Jigsaw management, are doing gigs with some high(ish) profile acts such as Tadpole and the Bleeders, we are also looking at getting a commercial EP ready within the next 6 months. Our main songwriter/rhythm guitarist is currently singing for us but we feel that a dedicated singer would be the next logical step if we're to progress to ultimate domination of the NZ Music market. Age is unimportant but we are all old. |

RE: A change in direction Posted: Wed Mar 31, 2004 12:51 pm Neb1 did themselves proud at the afore-mentioned gig (more details in the press section). The drum tracks which Adrian slaved over for more than a month blended in seemlessly with the rest of their live act. The next logical step seems to be to take things a little further. In another unconfirmed gig in late April with Ziko, Neb1 will be bringing more ideas and creativity to their live performance. In the single recorded for the Club Bizarre compilation extensive use of WWII era samples were used to great effect. Why WWII samples? For the same reason Moby uses old soul/motown samples in his music: 50 years after the death of the composer their works become public domain, no royalties. Neb1 are currently working on getting more of these and samples they have created themselves into their live act. |

Compilation Posted: Tue Mar 2, 2004 10:14 am Mark Bizarre of label/event production group Club Bizarre has asked Nebula One to contribute a track to a planned compilation album with other like minded bands. Initially the Arch Hill recordings were considered, however the general consensus was that the recordings would not be an accurate representation of neb1's sound due to live rather than machine drums. In lieu of this, bass player Adrian has been asked to re-record an updated version of an older track of theirs called Goodnight. Goodnight has the right atmosphere and sound for a compilation of gothic/dark music rather than the more upbeat tone of Mind Control or grunge influenced 16th Won recorded at Arch Hill. Adrian was hesitant at first as earlier attempts had mixed results, however rough mixes of Goodnight are already sounds great! |

A change in direction Posted: Mon Feb 16, 2004 5:59 pm In late 2003 Nebula One's drummer, River Tucker, decided to leave citing musical differences. Since that time Nebula One have made multiple attempts to try and find a new drummer, however a combination of being very few drummers left and even less that could match River has lead to a change of direction for these guys. Originally starting as a last resort measure for practice sessions, bass player Adrian Ashdown programmed a few drum tracks based on patterns used by River in previous recordings. After one practice session it was unanimously decided that instead of having a drum machine trying to sound like a drummer that it would be best to have a more industrial electronic edge. And so it was that the genesis of Nebula One's new sound came about. There is a gig tentatively booked in late March which will be a testing ground for their new sound. Watch this space for more details. |

Almost There Posted: Tue Dec 2, 2003 1:34 pm After almost 10 hours in the studio Nebula One came out of Arch Hill with 2 possible contenders for their first single. As mentioned in an earlier post they initially went in to record the tentatively titled The 16th Won (now tentatively called The Perfect Crime), however a 2nd track titled Mind Control was also recorded. Both of these represent works created by the current line-up combining their diverse influences. Even once the final mix has been performed there are no immediate plans to retail the end product for any kind of profit. Nebula One will do what they can to make these songs readily available for download and for a small fee (to cover costs) at gigs. If the rough mixes are anything to go by these guys are going to prove quite popular with the alternative music crowd once the single is released. More news later! |

Single Posted: Mon Nov 24, 2003 1:50 pm Hi there, Nebula One is going to recording their first single, tentatively titled "The 16th Won", at Arch Hill this Saturday. This tune represents one of the newer pieces from their live set but will be tweaked slightly for the studio to fit into the 4 minute radio-friendly slot. In its original form The 16th Won is a powerful 5 minute audience favourite but pre-production indicates that it will translate well being squeezed into a shorter time frame. Release dates, airplay and availability to be confirmed. Watch this space (or actually the next post) for more information. |
