NZ Music Month - Mo'Reece video/EP/single OUT NOW
Posted: Tue May 2, 2006 6:27 pm
Mo’Reece’s funky new acoustic tinged pop song Jim Jam, was recently released on Kiwi Hit Disk #81, and now there’s a hot new Jim Jam video and an EP containing remixes and bonus tracks from his forth coming album due out in August 2006.

Mo’Reece says he drew inspiration for the NZ on Air funded song and video from New Zealand boxing legend David Tua during his world heavyweight title fight with Lennox Lewis.

“Jim Jam is a humorous take on the Tua/Lewis fight. In the video, the island boy Jim Jam, thinks he can take on anything but when he sees his enormous competitor CoCo-Jo, he is completely overwhelmed. After lots of hard-work, heartache, pain and some comedic moments Jim Jam, manages to overcome all odds, and fulfill his dream”.

The Jim Jam clip was directed by Damon Fepulea'i of TM Productions, (also responsible for Ehrmen’s controversial Bank Job video), and the tracks guest rapper Chou Lee plays the David Tua inspired character of Jim Jam.

A NZ Samoan brought up in Glenn Innes, Mo’Reece currently resides on Auckland’s North Shore.

He has regularly performed live on his home turf - at the inaugural 2005 Pacific Music Awards, the Devonport Food & Wine Festival, the Pasifika Festival, and, with his four piece band, as the opening for George Benson at his Auckland Town Hall concert. A highlight for Mo’Reece was when Benson, impressed by his performance, requested a copy of Mo’Reece’s soon to be released album. With the help of Creative NZ, a nationwide tour in 2005 saw Mo’Reece take his music to urban and rural NZ, and then further a field with performances in Italy and at the prestigious Edinburgh Music Festival. The Promoters of the Edinburgh Festival have invited Mo’Reece back as a headline act in 2006 and he has received offers to perform shows in Japan and the UK.

“Mo’Reece is a talented Polynesian singer, who delivers a fresh perspective on the Pacific sound, while still retaining similarities to hit acts such as Adeaze and OMC. He is set to be one of New Zealand headline acts - his attitude, song-writing skills and musical flavour give me the confidence to say that - and we are looking forward to seeing his debut album do well,” says Richie Campbell, CEO Kahu Records.
