After forming in the Quail Island leper colony, The Leper Ballet sailed to Lyttleton Harbour on the limbs of loved ones.

Local venue, the Wunderbar took The Leper Ballet under its wing and housed the band in return for a long stream of live performances, during which the band developed a strong following amongst other unfortunate members of society.

Chinese whispers throughout the hospitals and psychiatric wards of Christchurch have helped to strengthen The Leper Ballet into what has been said is "The greatest live since the drummer from Def Leperd (ha ha pun) lost his arm and looked like a spastic cat on speed"
