The Septembers Debut Album Release Posted: Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:58 pm DEBUT ALBUM “EDGE OF THE WORLD” RELEASE DATE MARCH 2nd NATIONAL ALBUM TOUR DATES MARCH/APRIL The Septembers are thrilled and a bit proud to announce the title and release date of their debut album alongside the nationwide album release tour dates. In late 2008 The Septembers and Rico Petrillo (UK producer/engineer) packed up their gear, (including a vintage mixing desk from BFM studios) and headed out to the West Coast for a week of play-it-live recording sessions for their debut album. At Piha they captured inspired performances from a band in full flight, infused with the elements and the magic of some memorable midnight takes, (some illuminated only by the full moon). The Septembers released their debut EP in 2007 to a sell-out audience, followed by a tour of major New Zealand centres. This EP received steady airplay for the single ‘The Exorcist’ and brought them to the attention of UK producer, Rico Petrillo, who has worked with the likes of The Verve, Blur, Kasabian and Supergrass. Since forming in 2006, The Septembers have built a reputation as a captivating live band with a compelling sound and dynamic performances. They’ve played support and headline tours throughout New Zealand with electrifying gigs at both basement bars and festivals. Taking their sonic influences from classic Americana such as REM and Wilco, with the twisted romantic rock’n’roll of The Smiths and Radiohead, The Septembers’ music veers from searing acoustic heartbreakers to stomping power-pop - sometimes within the space of the same song! Ever since they met in an Auckland bar, there’s been an artistic chemistry, between singer/songwriter Anthony Stretch and guitar-slinger Sean Harvey. Stretch’s songs portray a deeply personal world that’s taken to the wide-screen by the kinetic invention of Andrew Price on drums and Zaria Yusoff on perfectly placed electric bass. |
