Monkey Puzzle Best of Album finally released! Posted: Thu Jan 8, 2004 7:44 pm After 2 years of funding problems and personal tradgedies Monkey Puzzle s Best of Album "Turn Down the Shit Knob" is finally ready for release. The album is a collection of songs from the bands first 5 years and largely consists of material that has featured on Television, Radio and extreme sports videos. The album was due to be released in Jan 2002 but sadly was delayed due to the death of close friend and financial backer Wayde Birrell. Wayde, who the album is dedicated to, was the owner and proprietor of Gisborne venue the Drunken Duck and a true supporter of all NZ music his untimely death was a huge loss to the band and was the major reason why they have not played much over the past 2 years, singer guitarist Danny Rodda says, "Wayde was such a good friend for so long that when he died I just felt completely lost, it was like the bottom had dropped out of the world, he was such a huge supporter and fan. At the time I completely lost interest in the live scene." The official release date for Turn Down the Shit Knob will be in Gisborne on Jan 24th, almost 2 years to the day that Wayde died, the venue is Smash Palace, and to continue the massive support that the Gisborne region has always shown Monkey Puzzle, the owners of Smash Palace have pre bought 50 copies of the album to give away on the night. The band will also be playing a release date in their home town of Raumati the following weekend Fri 30th Jan. |

Monkey Puzzle News Posted: Thu Oct 9, 2003 7:11 pm After having had a roster of drummers that would easily equal Spinal Tap, Monkey Puzzle is proud to announce that BJ Hiha formerly of Pushkin and The Blue Set will be joining the band as a permanent member. Our association with BJ goes back almost to the very begining of Monkey Puzzle (8 years ago) so it doesn't feel like a new member has joined, it's more like an old friend coming back. We will also be playing some shows over the next few months with our original drummer Karl Johannsen (the elusive ones). New Single and Video are being prepared for a December release and the Best of album "Turn Down the Shit Knob!" is finally going into production and should be ready for release along with the single and video. |
