Exiles
Through the gates of the Silver Key
we thought led to a Christchurch summer
sometimes in my lonely bed
I still hear you laughter
Exiles in the world
nothing to go home to
our glorious past
doubting I'll ever see you again
It's all gone so horribly wrong
I bet you wish you'd never met me
In books we wrote for the Police to read
were some terrible things but no warnings
of Exile in the world (etc)
In trouble with ourselves
we dream of blaming everybody else
Close my eyes and take my hand
wake me up beyond the sea
take me to magic lands
tell me I set you free, not
Exile in the world (etc)
Oh true love, have you seen my gold
or can you set me free?
have you come to see me hung?
all on the gallows tree,
of Exile in the World
nothing to go home to
our glorious past
doubting I'll ever see you again.
