End of an Era Posted: Fri Sep 15, 2006 7:04 pm At approximately 10:57am today a small Cessna aircraft went down in rough seas over the Cook Strait. Unconfirmed reports claim that all three members of the NZ band 15 Minutes of Madness were on board, along with all their guitars and amps. 15minutes were on the first leg of their global reunion tour, 18 months after they dissolved in a frenzy of drug abuse, violence and musical differences. While the band's career was shortlived, they managed to capture the imagination of a generation, with songs about issues as diverse as drug rape, surfing, friends' fat girlfriends, and just plain old teen angst. they rose to stardom on the heels of their surprise hits Jenny and Your Girlfriends Fat. After the shambles that was their final gig in Matakana, March 2005, the band called it quits, to pursue solo projects, which all failed. After stints inn rehab for two members, and a religious awakening for another, they decided to reform - this time for the music. their legacy will surely live on. |

The Charlie Fahy Appreciation Thread Posted: Fri Sep 15, 2006 6:24 pm Appreciation for a talented musician and funny guy. Has anyone heard him play anything seriously jazz? I heard he was interested in fusing the concept of Marxism and Jazz into a new genre called Fahzism....what a genius. Apparently he has a Marx tattoo on his arm frmo when he studied politics at Uni. |
