Tripwire is a fresh Experimental Rock band based in Greymouth, consisting of Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals. Tripwire enjoy exploring music, and play mainly originals.

Formed in 2002, Tripwire has "gone through" many different genres of music, which all mixed together gives Tripwire their unique style.

James, Dane and Kelly have been in a range of bands, including Inflatable Goat, Ghost Town Post, Orbit, Siege, where their musical skills have matured from playing covers, to creating overwhelming originals. More recently, at the end of 2004, Tyler Rodden was noticed bandless and approached about drumming for Tripwire, which he accepted, letting James focus on Singing.

Tripwire have a history of D.I.Y, recording themselves, and also organising concerts for other bands to perform in, to help give them more important experience of performing, thus leading to the establishment of Tripwire Promotions - upcoming live event specialists.

The year 2004 was a big one for Tripwire, single handedly organising "The World Administration Tour", recording, and many other gigs. It was the cokesmokefreerockquest 2004 that inspired Tripwire to perform topless, in body paint, as a move of individuality. After the technical rehersal earlier in the day, then rushing off to get painted, Tripwire walked into Greymouth Regent Theatre revealing for the first time their painted bodys, which took all by suprise. This has now become tradition, and most gigs you will now see Tripwire painted.

'Behind The Door' was the first song in a speight of creativity, which was created while playing around in a recording studio. To this day, 'Behind The Door' remains Tripwire's most dramatic song, based around the idea of war.

As Tripwire practices kick off for the 2005, Tripwire followers can expect big year from Tripwire, with a new lineup of songs just around the corner, and new crazy plans for the renound World Administration Tour. Recording is scheduled for April, if up to scratch this could see their first EP released to the public.
