Kapabal

Bio

The great-grandson of pioneering New Zealand Jazz musician Dick Richards, Kapabal (Government name: Aaron Wyatt) continues his family tradition of music through contemporary lens: Hip-Hop. A Rapper, beat-maker, Studio engineer, documentary/music video maker, businessman and full-spectrum Hip-Hop advocate, Kapabal writes, arranges, performs and promotes his own brand of uplifting street music.

Informed by his personal experiences, as well as philosophies and views developed over a lifetime spent living in the Hutt Valley within the greater Wellington region of New Zealand, for Kapabal, as much as he chose Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop is also something that chose him.

Raised on the likes of Tupac, despite playing around with rap during his childhood, he really got his start as a rapper and beatmaker in the early 2000s alongside Upper Hutt crew Souljah Squad. Making the transition to solo performer soon after, he announced his arrival as a fully formed artist in 2002 with his self-produced debut album The Abal One. Personally handling the marketing and promotion, The Abal One served as Kapabal’s metaphorical baptism of fire within the worlds of music production and the greater music industry.

Five years (and countless life experiences good and bad) later, Kapabal released his sophomore record Before Now, with the majority of the production handled by respected New Zealand rapper/multi-instrumentalist Tyna Keelan – and vocal features from a who’s who of street-level MCs operating within the greater Wellington region. Concurrently he debuted the first two volumes of his Street-Heavy DVD series (produced with his business partner T. Mo) – a project devoted to exposing grassroots Hip-Hop culture in New Zealand.

Currently, Kapabal is writing, recording and producing for his third full length album release. Having already released two lead-in singles ‘Rude and Abracious’ and ‘Touch The Sky’, 2010 finds Kapabal repositioning himself within the international Hip-Hop market. Riding high on a recent appearance on Trae The Truth hosted edition of the infamous Coast 2 Coast (US) mixtape series (526,966 plus downloads), Kapabal’s focus has shifted from making music for his region to writing songs for the world. As he states, “When you inspire yourself; nothing can stop you."

New Music Video for Kapabal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY_kbq_NkWY

Track will be avaialble at digital stores from April 12, show your support by buying the song from iTunes, www.amplifier.co.nz, Vodafone, Telecom etc......

With the release of his new single ‘Touch The Sky’ (and its accompanying music video) Kapabal reasserts his status as one of the hardest working Hip-Hop artists to emerge from the Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt regions in New Zealand.

Lyrically driven by a desire to inspire others to overcome the difficulties placed before them in life, and be themselves, with ‘Touch The Sky’ Kapabal combines his sung hook and rapid-fire rhyme style with an anthemic synthesised horn heavy southern style crunk beat produced by American Hip-Hop producer White Hot.

Working with Wainui based music video director/producer Ace Beatz of Ambulance Productions, Kapabal and his team have crafted a matching music video which captures the spirit to triumph over adversity. Focusing in bottling the essence of summertime in the Hutt Valley, ‘Touch The Sky’s visual video treatment, lyrical song content and uplifting production serve as a timely remind of the beautiful struggle.

Kapabal is currently writing and recording for his third full-length album. Look out for fresh material from him later this year.

New Single for Kapabal
Posted: Wed Aug 12, 2009 9:32 pm
My single "Rude & Abracious" (produced by Vella Productions), will be available at all good digital stores soon. To sum the song up in two words its "sarcastic controversy" .I take pokes at well-known artists, celebrities, myself & others, it wasn't made to offend anyone but if your someone who can't tell the difference between sarcasm & seriousism (my new word) then you may be offended. The song will be on my next album that is still yet to be titled.

Have a listen to it now on the main site www.superior4tress.com. I'll put it up on www.bebo.com/kapabal, www.myspace.com/kapabal & www.facebook/kapabal within the next few days so once its up make sure you show your support by adding it to your profile if you have one.

Its available for purchase now at www.amplifier.co.nz/release/50241/rude-abracious-single.html & should be available at www.digirama.co.nz soon, then iTunes, Vodafone & Telecom. I'm not sure exactly how long it'll take but if I'll keep you informed. Make sure you support your local artist (me) and download the song if your feeling it, it's only $2 so it definitely won't hurt your bank balance.

There will also be an official street remix featuring a couple of emcees. I wont say who yet but I'll be putting it up as a free download for everyone as soon as its ready.

So yea check out my new single and if you like it please show your support by buying it.

Much Love
Kapabal
