In the clubs of Chicago, back in the fifties, you could hear some of the greatest bluesmen of all time: Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Jimmy Reed — to name but a few. Meanwhile, around the corner, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley were inventing rock & roll.
Fifty years later, at the other end of the world, four New Zealand musicians formed a band inspired by that urban blues sound. They called themselves the Lazy Boys.
Playing a mixture of original songs and vintage covers — from little-known gems to undisputed classics — the Lazy Boys feature Big John Segovia on guitar and vocals, the Rev on harmonica, Simon Kearns on bass, and Rex McLeod on drums.
Since their first gig in 1999, the Lazy Boys have played gigs at the King's Arms, the Dog's Bollix, the Masonic Tavern, and many other Auckland venues, as well as dozens of private parties around the region.
Band Members:
Big John Segovia (guitar, vocals)
The Rev (harmonica)
Simon Kearns (bass)
