Learning to mix off 2 of NZ's best DJ's - Sample Gee and OB1 - was a pretty good start for Astral. He'd attend parties promoted by his 2 friends and watch the way they mixed and put their set together in the booth. Then he would go home and practice what he saw for hours on end whilst phoning them for advise. He handed a demo (which started at Progressive house and ended 70 minutes later with Steve Blake's Hard House anthem 'Get A Rush') to Sample Gee, asking for some feedback.
What he got instead was a booking for a main room at the first of what is now NZ's biggest Trance event, Chemistry. So it was certainly trial by fire: his first ever time playing out was to a crowd of about 2000 people!
That was 4 years ago and Astral (Clint Goodman to his friends) has since had a very impressive career. His international flavour and the quality of his sets has garnered him with Chemistry and Lagered! residencies, a guest residency at Altitude in Melbourne, he is one of the few NZ DJs to have played in London. Not to mention having performed for International 'superbrands' like Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Slinky, Renaissance, Smirnoff Experience, Globalunderground, Summer Dayze and local promoting heavyweights M2, Salvation, Mixam, Deep Hard N Funky, Twisted (Wellington) and more.
As well as headlining sets, he has played support for some of the biggest International names in Progressive and Trance music: Sasha, Dave Seaman, Marco V, Mike P.U.S.H., Lange, Above and Beyond, John '00' Fleming, Lucien Foort, James Holden, Benjamin Bates, Ferry Corsten, Luke Chable, Lisa Lashes, Kid Kenobi, Desyn Masiello and Steve Hill to name a few.
New Zealand's own DJ'ing and promoting star, Sample Gee, is quoted as saying Astral is one of the very few NZ DJs who have international level talent.
He's a firm favourite with the Trance crowd which is why time and time again he is booked to play his trademark hard edged, uplifting progressive sound at almost every major trance event to touch down in Auckland. He is one of NZ's best and most respected Progressive House/Trance DJs.
