MOTORHEAD NZ 'KISS OF DEATH' TOUR ANNOUNCED
The loudest, most uncompromising rock n' roll band on the planet,
the legendary Motorhead, return to New Zealand this October,
for one exclusive show in New Plymouth.

And who better to open for the loudest and meanest band in the world
for their NZ show than Australian legendary rock and roll bad boys,
Rose Tattoo, alongside local metal acts World War Four and 8 Foot Sativa,
in what will be the roughest, toughest, most ear-ringing tour of 2007.
"In case you've just stumbled in here," iconic singer and bassist Lemmy told audiences by way of introduction when Motorhead were last here, "we are Motorhead and we play rock and roll".

Like AC/DC, it's all Motorhead have ever done, and after more than three decades they unquestionably and unarguably remain the real deal. The trio are a crushingly loud religion, a proud institution in a world where for too many, real rock and roll is a forgotten art, a genre that's only dragged out when the t shirt looks good. Formed in 1975 by Lemmy after he was sacked from space rockers, Hawkwind, Motorhead were originally to be called Bastard. Lemmy's vision was to create a UK version of The MC5 with a twin guitar front line attack, but the concept distilled down to a trio and took its name from the slang tag for speed freak. The early lineup, with Fast Eddie Clarke on guitar and Phil "The Animal" Taylor on drums, fired off a string of classic albums like Overkill, Ace of Spades and the live killer, No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith.
Lemmy's classic quote that if Motorhead moved next door to your home, your lawn would die, was all too true and then some.
Although the band has gone through numerous personnel changes in the years since, from 1996's Overnight Sensation album, the team of Lemmy, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee have been set firmly in cement, and are now the longest lasting lineup in the band's history. Lemmy, who is now sixty one and seemingly bullet proof, is hard rock's answer to Keith Richards, a swaggering, sage-like elder statesman who has lived to tell more tales than most people have ever dreamt of. The former roadie for Jimi Hendrix, whose book White Line Fever is an essential rock read, saw The Beatles in The Cavern in the sixties and watched in both amusement and amazement as John Lennon slugged a heckler. Fast forward to the height of the punk movement in the late seventies, and he was again on the front lines, and tried in vain to teach future Sex Pistol Sid Vicious how to play bass.
Three decades on, Motorhead are still pulverising adoring audiences around the world with the glorious maxim "everything louder than everything else". In June 2007, guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke briefly reunited with the band at the Sweden Rock festival to blast through a 1, 2, 3 punch of Motorhead classics - Bomber, Ace of Spades and Overkill.

Meanwhile, the title of the new live album, Better Motorhead Than Dead - which follows 2006's studio effort, Kiss Of Death – says it all and is destined to be one of the great t shirt slogans.
In short, Motorhead forever, forever Motorhead.
And everything is right with the world.
