David Mulcahy new band Posted: Wed Sep 24, 2003 7:11 pm Getting bored with not making any music David Mulcahy (JPSE, Superette) Rob Mayes (Dolphin, Throw, Springloader) and Michael Daly (YFC and Leadleg) have quit their day jobs to pursue a career in rock and roll. Well not really, but we are spending lots of time cultivating infectiously catch hooky rock songs that are specifically designed to avoid commercial radio approval, just like we like em. Fans of Mulcahy's work with his previous bands will know that his work is rare with only one solo album released since the disbanding of Superette. The first release from the band is twisted pop song "twisted fruit" (I am the Inverse Freak) and should be hitting the alternative radio waves (if you can find any left) anytime soon. And just cos they feel like (and cos Fraser Bodega "insisted") the band are doing gigs in Wellington at Bodega on the 31st October with Sleepers Union and At the Dux de Lux on the 24th of October. Look out for Eskimo collector beer coasters and novelty teaspoons soon. Album to follow in due course. |
