THE SAGITTARIAN. Described as "an enigma wrapped in a mystery" with "raw, moody, electric beats". 29 year old vocalist/composer, The Sagittarian looks to diverse musical influences in his fusion of retro, pop, techno and electronic music. With such artists as Prince, Timbaland, Michael Jackson, JT and Enigma to call on for inspiration, his music stands out from the crowd with its poetic sound in the vocals and enchanting, mood boosting beats.
The Sagittarian's interest in music has is roots in an unlikely source - computer games. As a teenager in Auckland, The Sagittarian was succumbed by the quickly changing world of PC gaming. This gaming passion, brought The Sagittarian face to face with his biggest influence - the game hacker. Every hacker left a little music sting at the opening of the game they hacked into and it was these little electronic compositions that made The Sagittarian try his hand at composing music using the Scream Tracker software.
From then The Sagittarian went on a rollercoaster of creativity. In 1999 he sent out his track "Bells In My Mind" to various local record labels and was approached by Sample Gee, from Sony BMG, with a proposal to release the track, but only after the label made some changes to vocal arrangements in the song. Being the perfectionist that he is, The Sagittarian kindly refused the offer and went on to make another track that hit the dance world big.
"Liferider" reached the top of its game on MP3.com in 2000 and was voted the number one most downloaded dance track in Australasia that year. It featured along with ten of Sagittarian's other songs in all six of the performance car ..ary films in the High Octane series. These films have dominated the DVD market from 2000 to 2006. That feat is mainly thanks to The Sagittarian, who has showed off not only his musical prowess but also directorial, script writing and editorial skills that have made the High Octane into the performance car ..ary empire, ranked number one selling DVD for five years running.
While film making has hindered The Sagittarian's music releases, it was in 2006 that he decided to go back to music writing full time. What followed was the release of Karma Killer in 2007. This track stands as further proof of his consummate musical artistry with the music video for Karma Killer reaching the top 30 most played music videos on Juice TV within three weeks. Karma Killer is the first released track from The Sagittarian's début solo album, due 2007.
