Antiform

Bio

The name Antiform has been on the lips and the turntables of Breakbeat and Drum and Bass pioneers for a lengthy amount of time already, but their latest achievements have made everyone wake up and take note. Antiform are a band of musicians, producers and DJ’s that produce and perform their unique fusion of breakbeat, rock, hip-hop, drum & bass, metal and contemporary styles of music to people the world over. Hailing from Auckland, Brothers Josh and Luke Purcell met Brendon Spain on the New Zealand DJ circuit and with a mutual interest in producing and DJ’ing electronic music, they eventually conceived Antiform in 2002. Their combined talents have taken them from a release on a local Breakbeat CD to the Hardcore Beats 3 compilation and being nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the Breakspoll 2008 awards in the UK, making them the first Kiwis ever to be nominated for this huge accolade.

Antiform's early projects with Auckland’s MC Twincam spawned It's All About which hit number three on bFM’s chart. In 2007 Antiform delivered Boombox, the track created major hype with Screwface remixing the tune for Hardcore Beats 3 and was signed by the UK’s biggest Breakbeat label, Hardcore Beats. Since then Antiform has done nothing short of skyrocket in popularity and are now know around the world as respected producers and musicians with a unique and highly acclaimed sound. Antiform have captured the attention of hugely influential producers such as The Freestylers, Freq Nasty, Ctrl Z, The Autobots, Affinity and many more.

Antiform have headlined many major festivals, completed a hugely successful Australasian tour, sold out every party for their single and EP releases and have been playing to swarms of partygoers on the New Zealand tour for Ends of the Earth of which they feature no less than three times on the album with Got To Be You, Grip and Crash. These 3 singles have each proved to be hugely successful worldwide holding top 10 positions in the charts of Amplifier and Beatport.com download websites for months as well as music videos for Crash and Got To Be You receiving vast amounts of rotation on music TV around the world.

For Antiform performing live in concert has always been a major focus of the group since its original conception, bringing their honed studio productions to the stadiums, arenas and clubs to put on a show that is un-paralleled in energy, entertainment and musical mayhem. After working with various artists over the years, the band has recently brought on board MC Twincam as a vocalist and Sam Kingston as a guitarist, both of which have worked on several songs with the trio in the past. This new addition to band is sure to bring a show like no other and have the critics raving about the phenomenon that is Antiform.

Antiform have now release their debut album City in Exile which hit the New Zealand album charts at number 17 and reached iTunes top 10 in at the number 2 spot.

ANTIFORM release debut album ‘City In Exile’ Monday 25 May

Featuring collaborations with Tiki Taane, MC Twincam, Angelo Munro (Bleeders) & Julia Deans.

The name Antiform has been on the lips and turntables of Breakbeat and Drum and Bass pioneers for a lengthy amount of time already. ‘City In Exile’ – in stores May 25 - is their hotly anticipated debut album featuring collaborations with some of NZ’s finest artists, including Tiki Taane, MC Twincam, Angelo Munro (Bleeders), Julia Deans and Agent Alvin. New single ‘Bury Me’ featuring Awaking State is currently at Alt radio across the country.

Antiform have travelled a vast distance since their conception in the 2002 where brothers Josh and Luke Purcell met Brendon Spain on the national DJ circuit. Their combined talents have taken them from a local festival CD to the Hardcore Beats 3 compilation and being nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the Breakspoll 2008 awards in the UK, making them the first Kiwis ever to be nominated for this huge accolade. If this wasn’t enough, Antiform have captured the attention of hugely influential producers such as The Freestylers, Freq Nasty, Screwface, Ctrl Z, The Autobots, Affinity, and their single ‘Got To Be You’ was play listed on the BBC’s Radio One with Annie Nightingale.

The 3-piece hail from Auckland - an unlikely breeding ground for the epic bass-driven, melodic riffs that have created mania on the dance floor and sent crowds of partygoers wild. In 2008 alone Antiform completed a hugely successful Australian Tour, sold out all three EP release parties for their EP ‘Got To Be You’ with over 800 people at each event. Antiform have also performed at NYE festivals, Rhythm and Vines and Phat09, The Big Day Out, and Our House Summer Festival at Western Springs.

“The new Pendulum” – (Rennie Pilgrem)

“Antiform are the bollocks!!!! Their tunes most definitely rock the crowd when we drop them beats” (The Freestylers)

“These guys are like an adrenaline shot into the heart of NuSkool Breaks, bringing tearing vibes and supreme musicality that few can equal!” (Screwface)
