Genocide, real name Jusuf Dzilic is no ordinary MC. He was Born in 1984 in a town called Zvornik situated in Eastern Bosnia. At the time of his birth Bosnia was only a province of a country called Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia is in the region also known as The Balkans. The word Balkan translated basically means Warring States. In a country full of different ethnicities and all living in the different provinces of Yugoslavia they have waged war against each other on many occasions.
In the late 80’s after the death of Josip Broz Tito, The man that kept the country together through brotherhood and unity, Yugoslavia deteriorated into a country of ethnic hate once again. The different provinces began to declare independence and become countries of their own.
In 1992 the bloodshed began in Bosnia. Bosnia was a country made up of mainly Bosnian Muslims, Orthodox Serbs and Catholic Croatians. A genocide and ethnic cleansing was committed on the Bosnian Muslims By Bosnian Serbs and various paramilitary groups from Serbia Proper.
After a few months of surviving in the madness Genocide along with his family escaped to Austria and then Ireland where they were Refugees.
Approx: 250,000 people died in the Bosnian aggression from 1992 –1995.
In Ireland, Genocide learned to speak English and grew up in various parts around Dublin City. As a Refugee he dealt with a lot of racism which often lead to confrontations.
In the mid 90’s he began to listen to Hip Hop music, this became a mental escape from his reality and it became a part of him.
He started writing his own lyrics in the late 90’s under various aliases. He made a number of audio tapes which he sold at school etc. In 2000 he took on the name Genocide which he can strongly relate to
In 2002 at the age of 18 he made a move to New Zealand. He didn’t make any music for a number of years until 2006 This time Genocide was a lot more mature and focused on his goals being away from his family and reminiscing on his life and being a Muslim he knew he had to speak his thoughts.
He made a mixtape called 'Rhymes Against Humanity' Which he pressed up and sold locally and put on the internet as a free download to spread the music.
Genocide then started making 'Tales From The Asylum' this time as a confident MC who knew what he was doing. The CD features various guest appearances and put Genocide into a different league.
He has appeared on numerous international CDs, international newspapers and magazines.
2008, Genocide is Recording his Debut Studio LP 'The Cleansing'. In a game full of money, hoes, cars and bling, Genocide brings rugged Hip Hop real rhymes and real beats.
