Lead singer and songwriter Troy McKubre has created a sound that is fast winning fans all over the planet and helped secure them a spot at this years Big Day Out Festival. The lush dynamic range of hard rock, metal and acoustic music incorporates many new sounds and electronic influences.
In April 2008 McKubre traveled to Los Angeles to work with super engineer/producer Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Filter, Breaking Benjamin, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sevendust) in the legendary 'Mix Room' studios. The pair mixed two of Solstate's upcoming singles including 'Tonight' which has just been released to radio and TV.
Solstate's debut single released to radio in 2007 was "Alright Now" (featuring Boh Runga) and it reached #7 in the NZ Rock Radio Charts, a fantastic first up success. The next single "Against & With" also charted well and was included on July's NZ On Air Hit Disc. Videos for these songs also received airplay on NZ music TV.
McKubre enlisted Tristan Reilly (drums) and Dan Insley (bass) plus Zorran Mendonza and Darren Crowe (guitars) to help him transform the album to the live arena and in November 2007 Solstate were awarded a Phase Four album grant from NZ On Air.
Solstate are currently looking at opportunities to release the album overseas and have had interest from labels and distributors.

Solstate Hit India For The Great Indian Rock Tour and Festival Dates Posted: Fri Sep 11, 2009 3:28 pm Solstate Hit India For The Great Indian Rock Tour and Festival Dates Auckland rock band Solstate has been invited to perform at the annual Great Indian Rock tour throughout October 2009. The five piece will take their melodic brand of heavy rock to crowds of up to 50 000 punters, headlining three of the festival dates for what has been described as the ‘Big Day Out’ of India. Solstate will also head out on their own headline tour throughout India, including college festival and club dates which are soon to be announced. The band will be filming the tour (which already includes confirmed dates in Bangalore, Delhi, Pune and Goa) for content for an upcoming documentary. The tour comes in support of their debut album Whispers and Tremors being released in India through OML/EMI Virgin in November. Whispers and Tremors made a heavy impact upon the NZ rock scene upon its release late last year, with singles ‘Alright Now’ and ‘Tonight’ making waves in the singles charts. New radio single ‘Rise’ is set for the same path, heading out to stations next week. With tracks from Whispers and Tremors already blasting across major Indian Radio and TV networks, Solstate look set to take the continent by storm. www.solstate.co.nz www.myspace.com/solstate |
