The Eastern

Bio

The Eastern have played everywhere (man), from Nashville to Timaru and a few stops in between. Christchurch is home but Lyttelton's where the heart is, as they drink with sailors as house band at the Wunderbar and remember songs shouted across the booth at Sun Studios, on stages in London, in rebel pubs in Baltimore.

The Eastern play because they have to, not to see their faces in a magazine or in a video or on a chart. They'll play because they care, about the songs, about the show, about the folks they meet and the hands they shake. They play like it matters, like it's all they know how to do – 'cause it does and it is.

The Eastern have played more than 230 shows in the past year alone, including opening for Steve Earle, Jimmy Barnes, Jim White and John Doe, Barry Saunders and more!

Their two independently released EPs, Crow River and Get It Right, have combined sales measured in the thousands, from live shows and select retail stores alone. This is a group with an ethic and a following!
