Roy G and The BIVinators is a project driven by Maz Hermon, a Whangarei born musician now living in Wellington. Inspired by the heart beat and pulse of life, Roy G and The BIVinators are busy spreading the love wherever they happen to be.
The Debut EP 'For the pEoPle' (2008) and the full length album 'The Rainbow Throw' aimed for official release in 2009 were recorded at Roy G Records, Maz's studio, which even in it's beginning stages is producing some beautiful recordings with the soulful sound.
During the last two years Roy G and The BIVinators have appeared as a 9 piece band at various festivals and events including the Parihaka International Peace Festival in Taranaki (the most culturally significant festival in Aotearoa New Zealand) and the Newtown Festival in Wellington, as well as many other small venue gigs around the country.
Maz is a 25 year old songwritter, musician and producer focusing on Guitar, Vocals, and Trombone. He has spent time learning about music early on as lead trombonist in the Whangarei Youth Music Concert band, and later at the New Zealand School of Music studying Jazz performance on the trombone.
He now focuses on taking his original music to the people through both recording and live shows under the name Roy G and The BIVinators.
The sound can be described as a blend of folk, ska, roots, rock, reggae, pop, funk and soul, with positivity being the only constant. This music appeals to a wide range of ages, cultures, and music appreciators.
The Live show varies from a solo set by Maz... (which is Maz with the guitar, bass drum, high-hats, loop pedal, sampler, drum machine, trombone...) offering a full sound, good to dance to or just to sit and enjoy.
...to the full spectrum band. (drums, bass, vocals, guitar, dancers, tamborine shakers, magic makers, and visuals!!!
Keep an eye and an ear out for ROY G &the BIVinators, a joyous musical project that's on the rise.
