Entrails was started in mid 2008 by guitarist William 'Fuzz' Proffitt (Damaged) and drummer Nick Oakes (Razorwyre) out of a desire to play heavy hardcore slightly out of the norm. They then set about recruiting members, starting with Nellie Pearson (Good Times) on bass, followed shortly afterwards by recent immigrants from Hamilton, John Dimery on vocals and Fraser Matheson (Cry Wolf) on guitar.
Once the lineup was solidified the music naturally became a culmination of the wide array of influences brought by the members but with an ultimate love of heavy music. Entrails' music takes aspects from crust/D-Beat, modern and old school hardcore, black metal, mathcore, power violence, grindcore and punk rock to create a heavy, dark, brooding progressive sound.
Following the recording of a self-titled five song demo/EP with engineer extraordinaire, Tim Shann, over summer 2008-09, Nellie joined the exodus; deciding to leave for the warmer climes and terrible coffee of Melbourne. Nellie's rather large bassy boots were filled by Cameron Reid (Rifles, Dial) who brought yet another dimension to the music.
Coming straight out of Lorne Street's basement, Entrails continues to formulate its sound and create uncompromising music with plans for another release in the near future.
