Jo released her debut acoustic EP in August 2006 to coincide with the Dunedin Fringe Festival where she gained a lot of exposure, performing at various venues around Dunedin including; live interviews on Radio One, More FM, and Channel 9's Cow TV. Following this, she continued her performances throughout Otago and Southland including Invercargill's CUE TV as well as Southland Radio.
In 2007 Jo formed a bluegrass duo with fellow musician Anna van Riel named Bellebird, this acoustic combination instantly became a hit in the South opening for touring artists Karen Hunter, Luke Hurley, Tim Guy, Age Prior & Paul McLaney. Throughout the year Jo continued to work on her own music and formed a blues grunge band named Porch. They entered the World Battle of the Bands and won the regional heats; transporting them to the finals at the Albert Arms in Auckland where they gained exposure on Alt TV. Porch disbanded after the competition and in 2008 Jo formed a new group Midnight Kitchen. Midnight Kitchen performed at Southland/Otago venues such as: Louie's Tapas Bar, Tillerman's, Saints and Sinners, The Gluepot, The Musician's Club, Backstage, Robbie Burns, opening for bands such as Problem Melbourne, Marcus Tuwairoa, Ash & The Matadors and Left or Right. In the same year they won their region for the 'Sounds of your home town competition' and made it into the finals of Invercargill's Bandwars.
At the end of 2008 Jo's other group Bellebird teamed up with The Handsome Gypsies and toured around New Zealand promoting their debut EP Flying North, entertaining at 34 venues over two months, They embarked on their last tour in winter 2009 and then parted ways.
Midnight Kitchen finished their debut EP at the end of 2009 and toured NZ together over the summer before the members moved to different regions.
Jo now in Dunedin is working on a solo album project and continuing with her painting.
