Bella Kalolo is of Samoan, Tongan and Maori (Ngati Porou) decent.
2011 has started off with a bang with Bella supporting Fat Freddy’s Drop on The Road to Opononi Tour and performing to over 1300 people at the Wellington Botanical Gardens. It continues in the same fashion with a second Pacific Best Female Artist nomination in as many years, two performances at the world famous Glastonbury Festival as well as perfomances in the City of London Festival. Bella looks forward to performing on the line up at the 2011 Rugby World Cup and a short tour to Rarotonga with iconic New Zealand singer Annie Crummer.
2010 was a great year for Bella Kalolo, she was nominated as Best Female Vocalist at the Pacific Music Awards, the track “What Love Can Do” which is the title track from the movie “Matariki” was released as well as many exciting ventures included touring in NZ and Australia.
She is one of New Zealand’s most exciting artists and has worked extensively as a vocalist for the last ten years performing and/or recording with Don McGlashan, Dave Dobbyn, Hollie Smith, Fat Freddy's Drop, Tina Cross, Jackie Clarke, Suzanne Lynch, the NZ Symphony Orchestra, Carl Doy and Nathan Haines to name a few.
Bella has worked in TV on Dancing With The Stars for the last three seasons, played a female lead role in TV2’s kids series ‘Jandals Away’ and also appeared in NZ’s own ‘Sione’s Wedding’.
