Panther and The Zoo

Bio

Lead by Graham Panther, the Zoo began in mid 2008, in the suburb of Kingsland, nestled in the shadow of Auckland Zoo. Since then, they've been weaving together wry social commentary, swoony sighs and harmonies to set your heart a flutter.

Panther's Zoo has so far been home to members of The Brunettes, Brand New Math, America's Polka Dot Dot Dot, and Phony Bone among others. And yes, that's his real name.

Panther's songs could have been plucked from any decade. Their warm, analogue sounds, kaleidoscopic vocals and strong, tumbling melodies appeal to both young and old. Yet the combination of Panther's unique, dulcet voice and sharp lyrics give the music its unmistakeably contemporary edge.

Already causing rumbles in the Auckland Alternative music community, Panther and the Zoo have had three tracks on 95bFM. The first, Voices, marched up the Top Ten. Title track Think About It Not Exploding followed suit, and while I Know Your Name has only been on the airwaves a few days, it is receiving praise from DJs and listeners alike.
