Organectomy was birthed from a solo project by vocalist Tyler Jordan entitled Scat Hammer, who later decided to convert it into a full band changing the name to Organectomy and recruting the help of Sam McRobert: Guitar and Jae Hulbert: Drums. After practicing for a bit they decided to enter a local band competition Rapid Storm, enlisting the help of friend Hayden Corles on Bass.
A lack of success in the competition did not slow the band down, they played a gig shortly after earning them a bit of attention within the Christchurch metal scene. Shortly afterwards the band had to say goodbye to Bassist Hayden Corles, recruiting Liam Owers to fill his place. The band played one more gig before relinquishing Sam McRobert of his duties enlisting Isaac Pomeroy on Guitar and adding Daniel Hames on Second Guitar.
The band then supported friends Plague Of The Fallen at their E.P. release earning them attention from an older crowd. It was then decided that Liam Owers would leave the band, who recruited Jaes cousin Adam Barker-Bridge to replace him. They then played their first gig with the curent line-up supporting The Word Of God at their all ages Christchurch gig for the Matti Memorial Fund Tour.
Slowing making a name of themselves, they entered a New Zealand band competition Smokefree Rockquest and came third place in the Canterbury Regional Finals.
In Mid term three 2011 the band recorded a six track demo... Brutal!
