Proton Beast is a band consisting of one guitar, two humans, three amps and a set of drums. Stu Harwood and Wes Holdsworth met online, they are not lovers. After months of procrastinating and spending more time drinking Stu's homebrew than writing songs, enough noise was eventually made to necessitate a set but not a gun rack. A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do... with a gun rack? You don't like it? Fine. You know Wayne, if you're not careful, you're going to lose me. I lost you two months ago. We broke up. Are you mental? Get the net!
The ethos behind Proton Beast is to condense what should be a twenty minute doom opus into a 3 minute pop hit. They haven't succeeded. By utilising three amps in order to create a punishing wall of sound/interesting tonal textures and to avoid sounding like just another two piece garage rock outfit, Proton Beast have found a sound with no commercial value that is too niche to garner a cult audience. They call it Disco Doom.
“They are treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality and bad poetry”
“Shit sandwich”
"This pretentious ponderous collection of religious rock psalms is enough to prompt the question, what day did the Lord create Spinal Tap Proton Beast, and couldn't he have rested on that day too?'"
“This is heavy” - Marty McFly
