Lole Usoali’i is an Internationally recognized bi-lingual English/Samoan Singer and Songwriter, and one of the most accomplished Samoan female solo recording artists for almost 2 decades.
Usoali’i is married to Michael Hickey, who is also her Manager.
Professional Career:
Usoali’i-Hickey has had several chart topping songs in New Zealand, which earned her a New Zealand Music Award in 1997 for most Promising Female Artist.
Usoali’i-Hickey had worked under the Papa Pacific/Warners and Deepgrooves/Festival NZ music labels, but embarked on her own music journey by moving to Samoa in 2004 and setting up her own Roots Down Records label, going from mainstream to world music. Her non-conforming mainstream ideals paid off, with over 250,000 albums from her independent label being sold worldwide.
Usoali’i-Hickey was a committee and founding member of the Pacific Island Music Awards in NZ in 2004, which has now become one of the most recognized events in New Zealand. She has also founded the SamoaTel Music Awards in Samoa.
Usoali’i-Hickey’s song ‘Tu I Luga’, was used as David Tua’s entrance song in 2009′s Fight of the Century against Shane Cameron held in Hamilton, New Zealand. The song had been heard by roughly 1.8 million viewers who paid by pay-per-view to watch the fight. The song was an instant hit, that it made #3 on NZ iTunes charts for ten consecutive weeks.
Lole lives in Sydney and Apia througout the year, travelling and touring.
