Putting aside the typical single-genre and defined style approach, Forgotten Generation has understood that there is much more involved for a band to establish personal and musical connections with people.
By playing shows ranging from small garage parties, all-age venues and local pubs right through to being invited to open for international act I Am Giant, Forgotten Generation has made this connection with what is now a well supportive fan base.
Described early on as “an eclectic mix” by Canta Magazine, with influences ranging from Deftones and The Used to At the Drive In and Thrice, Forgotten Generation were able to progress quickly within the local scene, gaining support slots for local and national acts.
Following their move to Auckland in January 2013 after a 4 week nationwide tour, Forgotten Generation carried out a restructure of members. With the addition of bass player Sam Hill, vocalist Jonah Van Dongen took over as front man rather than performing a split act with previous bassist Grant Wilson
The band is now working on new material consisting of a mix of catchy riffs, raw tones and melodic hooks with tracks such as 'Why Can't You Breathe' which captures the high energy which the band put at the forefront of their shows.
Previous reviews had Forgotten Generation well received, with Punkas.com giving a three-star approval and stating “all the elements are in place and Forgotten Generation feel like a group who will grow rapidly, breaking out far beyond the
South Island”.
