Helen Henderson’s soulful voice and haunting songs lure you to the rocks, tempt you with the promise of dry land, and leave you wanting more.
Hailing from Southland, New Zealand, Helen began her musical career in London but now calls Los Angeles home.
Her debut album The Sonora Sessions was recorded in Los Angeles and received rave reviews. This album included the hit single The Ballad of Minnie Dean.
Sophomore album Twisting Wind was recorded at F.A.M.E. Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, fondly referred to as "the cradle of rock and roll." Powerful and raw, this album captures a soulful moment in time from this "Kiwi Siren."
Twisting Wind features some of the worlds finest international musicians such as Doug Pettibone on Guitar, Pedal steel, David Hood on Bass Guitar, Brian Owings on Drums, Larry Byram on Guitar, Mandolin, Synth, Spooner Oldham on Keyboards and Gia Ciambotti on Backing vocals. The album was mixed by Helik Hadar (Herbie Hancock), mastered by Gavin Lurssen (Alison Krauss, Robert Plant, Lucinda Williams) and engineered by Jimmy Nutt.
Henderson’s forthcoming album entitled London is a collection of songs she wrote when she moved to London in the 70’s. The majority of the tracks were recorded at Advision Studios, the home of many hit records. Henderson was signed to Ensign Records at the time – home to Boomtown Rats, The Water Boys and Sinead O’Connor. Several tracks were re written and recorded later at Phantom Vox Studios in Los Angeles. London is due out on July 8th 2016.
