Members include Anthony Lander, Logan Valentine, Penelope Esplin, and Oli Bridgeman, who have been in tons of bands from Wellington and Dunedin (such as MOSES, The Blue Onesies, French for Rabbits, Grawlixes, Fat Children, The Prophet Hens, The Tweeks). The Doubtful Sounds are a guitar pop band who live in Auckland and Wellington and sing about books, trains, love, guitars, hope, hills, and Elvis. Originally formed in the mists of the 1990s, the Doubtfuls (not to be confused with the Wellington choir with a very similar name) self-released "The Pop Album" in 2012, "A Stones Throw from Happiness" in 2014, and contributed tracks to Editions 59 in Germany, Small Bear Records on the Isle of Man, and :: 植物园 :: : botanic garden in China. They're supposed to be finishing a new album for Seattle's Jigsaw Records and hope to try out some new songs at MOON. The lead single “We bought a house” is about the Kiwi dream of home ownership. The song is a blank canvas with enough space for all your dreams and anxieties about home ownership. It is middle class 'banksta' rap. |
