Lotek is the work of Nelson based musician Dion Te Momo. Dion started out by playing in covers bands, and in 1992 he made the move to London seeking fame and fortune.
After leaving London in 1994 he spent the next couple of years playing in further covers bands and teaching guitar. From 1996 he taught guitar at the School of Music.
Around 1999 he and some of his friends formed a band called Alfabet Soup, performing around Nelson.
In October 2001 Dion recorded a few songs, which were so well received he decided to do an album. It took two months to record all the tracks himself at Studio 413 in Nelson.
