SHAPESHIFTER - In Rarotonga Posted: Wed Aug 11, 2010 3:36 pm To throw off the winter blues, Number One selling New Zealand band Shapeshifter are set to make their debut performance in the Cook Islands. The band will bring their heavy soul to the tropical paradise of Rarotonga for a special charity concert. Joining the band is New Zealand favourite and Shapeshifter’s legendary sound engineer Tiki Taane who will perform an acoustic set. The concert will take place at the Club Raro Resort on Thursday 2 September local time (Friday 3 September NZST). Proceeds from the concert will go to the Cook Island Voyaging Society and towards relief for the victims of Aitutaki’s Cyclone Pat. To add to the occasion, the band will travel to Rarotonga on a special Pacific Blue “Shapeshifter flight” departing Auckland on Monday 30 August. Success after Success for Shapeshifter Posted: Tue Apr 12, 2005 6:07 pm Shapeshifter have just completed their 4th national sell-out tour of New Zealand. Shapeshifter’s album Riddim Wise LP has reached Gold sales status. Shapeshifter have released their latest single Long White Cloud featuring the vocals of Joe Dukie (Fat Freddy’s Drop). Shapeshifter are nominated for “Best Live Act” at the 2005 bNet New Zealand Music Awards. Shapeshifter have been building their reputation as one of New Zealand’s favourite live acts. Over the last month, the band have been sending fans into a frenzy throughout the country with their unique high energy, live drum and bass sound. This live sound, accompanied by soulful vocals from top New Zealand artists such as PDigsss, Ladi6 and Joe Dukie have allowed Shapeshifter to transcend audiences and promote drum and bass to a wider variety of listeners. Their album Riddim Wise is proof of this, as it has just achieved gold sales status (7,500 units) in New Zealand. Shapeshifter is only the second drum and bass act in the world to reach gold sales status. Shapeshifter Album Tour Posted: Sun Feb 8, 2004 10:59 am Shapeshifter are performing throughout New Zealand to celebrate the release of their 2nd album, Riddim Wise LP. It is released independently through TRUETONE and distributed in NZ through Rhythmethod on March 1st. This will be your last chance to see Shapeshifter perform live in New Zealand before they head back to Australia to prepare for their trip to Europe mid year. Shapeshifter News Posted: Fri May 23, 2003 8:19 pm Shapeshifter won 'Best Electronic Release' at the b-net music awards. They were also nominated for 'Best Album' for their debut album 'Real Time' as well as being nominated for 'Best Song' with 'Tapestry' Shapeshifter will be releasing their second album in New Zealand in September 2003, and will tour nationally at the end of October. Shapeshifter are currently based in Melbourne and are regularly touring Australia. |
