Wind in the Tussock Posted: Sun Jun 7, 2009 11:06 am Nothing stirs the imagination quite like the South Island high country, where windswept tussock grassland is an integral part of the landscape. Wind in the Tussock was originally released on cassette only and was selected as a shortlisted finalist for folk album of the year at the New Zealand Music Awards in 1989. The original recording has been digitally remixed and re-mastered to include Phil Garland’s ANZAC Day song Faded Pictures from the 1986 award winning album Send the Boats Away. This song was recovered from Kiwi Pacific archives, where it has languished for the last 20 years after being omitted from the original pressing because it was considered too lengthy for radio airplay. Other Phil Garland titles currently available are:- *Southern Odyssey – Winner of Folk Album of the year 2007 *No Place Like Home – 2004 *Swag ‘O Dreams – Finalist for Folk Album of the year 2001 *A Sense of Place – 1998 *Under the Southern Cross – 1996 *How Are You, Mate? – 1990 *Wind in the Tussock – Finalist for folk album of the year 1989 *Hunger in the Air – Finalist for folk album of the year 1987 *Springtime in the Mountains – Winner of Folk Album of the year 1984 All albums are available from [email protected] or www.philgarland.co.nz |
