Take a hardcore punk fanatic; put him under a load of stress, give him a bass guitar and a week to learn it. Add a melodic guitarist, a hip-hop drummer and a old-school guitarist. Convince two of them to surf less and jam more, get one back from the mountain and let one know he's an alcoholic. Force them to write songs about it and everything else in their lives (except girls, 'cos who cares?) and you have Slack Alice.
