It's been an exciting year for 2005 Smokefree Rockquest winners, The Electric Confectionaires. Their first radio single, 'All My Love', recorded at York Street Studio as part of their prize, was well received, and 2006 began with them taking the front cover of The NZ Herald's entertainment guide, billed as 'the ones to watch' ahead of their Big Day Out performance.
They have played at the opening of a 60's photographic exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery, on bFM, at the launch of Music Month and at Radio Network and ZM gigs.
In September they supported international act The Fray, performed on the Red Bull stage at Fashion Week and were invited to play at Huffer's catwalk show. They have been commissioned to write the theme music for this year's Smokefree Rockquest TV series to air on TV 3 and C4.
And with one Electric Confectionaire still at school (Head Boy of Takapuna Grammar) holidays mean studio time. They have just completed demos and will record their debut album in January, having signed a global recording deal with SonyBMG (NZ).
