Yimmy began his music adventures back in 1991 in Sydney Australia joining a band called Smotan. This band lasted until Yimmy returned to New Zealand in 1995 where he helped form a band called Shylock with Mike McKenna aka Project Boris.
Support Gigs with Shihad and Head Like A Hole followed by a North Island Tour with Whangarei Band Skin Machine helped produce an EP in 1997 called Pound.
Shylock disbanded in 1999 due to personal differences in the band's direction.
Yimmy then focused on his cover band Something Stupid which had been playing the local circuit in Whangarei since 1998. The decision was made to keep playing cover gigs but slowly introduce original songs into the set over time. This resulted in a full Album recorded and released in 2007. The Album was called And You Are? and the band had changed its name to Gridlock. Promotion of the Album continued with tours and shows all over the North Island and even a show back in Australia in 2010.
In between this project, Yimmy helped form a band called The Bastards Of Finn which played a few shows over a couple of years before everyone went onto other things in 2002.

2019 also saw a move to Auckland where things were put on hold for a couple of years but still continuing to write for the Smotan Album and in 2022 he joined a small covers band called The Rulerz. The Rulerz lasted a few months and one awesome New years Eve gig then it ended suddenly. A brief hiatus occurred then some old contacts from the past emerged into a project called Acoustic Soda. The band has some former Shylock members in it and a younger element which has added a vibrancy to the project. The band is playing a mixture of acoustic covers mainly from the 90's and some original songs here and there also the last set is a full electric set adding a real dynamic to the show. Acoustic Soda will be fully functional in 2025.
