Dónal Gunning

Bio

Dónal Gunning is a singer songwriter from Ireland. He draws on rock, folk, indie and punk influences.

Now based in Wellington, New Zealand his debut solo single Homesick released in October 2023. Homesick is dedicated to the masses who have emigrated their motherland for opportunity and adventure. It tells the story of struggle in leaving friends and family.

His EP Born to Perform released in May 2024. The EP was inspired and written while travelling New Zealand, Portugal and Ireland over the last 2 years.

Dónal is accompanied by his back-line The Bucks, a collection of upcoming Wellington session musicians, for his more rock / punk driven songs.

Dónal has completed 2 tours of the North Island with the Bucks, as well as played at a number of Venues around Wellington including; Moon, Valhalla, Thistle Hall and Meow. Dónal released Satelittle his debut single with the Bucks in Spring 2023.

He knows how to work the crowd and always brings fun, energy and Irish charm through his thought-provoking lyrics and formative sound.
