The name Eye TV comes from the title of an Iggy Pop song called TV Eye. They were originally known as The Nixons, and were forced to change their name prior to their first tour of the United States, as there was another band in America called The Nixons. The band was formed on Waitangi Day, 1995.
The Eye TV song Wish It All Away won the Flying Fish Music Video Of The Year in 1998. One Day Ahead was the most played New Zealand song on radio and earned a Best Song and Best Video nomination at the annual New Zealand Music Awards.
Eye TV performed at Sweetwaters and the Raw Foods Festival (Blenheim) and have toured with Zed.
Fire Down Below was released in 2001 and is a rip-roaring pop album and features the top 10 singles One Day Ahead and Just The Way It Is.
