A Schizo Phrenia performance is compiled from material of their new album, "Tear it apart." Their sound evolved around the dark narration of Jack B Nimble, contrasted with the four octave vocal of Skin Lizzy and is based on a true to life hypomanic episode of leading character, Jack. Ancillary members reinforce the account with driving textured rhythms to produce a Gothic post punk influence.
Schizo Phrenia formed in 1996 in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Core members Michael Wheeler aka Jack B Nimble, Elizabeth Wheeler aka Skin Lizzy, David Roskilly, Tania Ryken and Steve "Styxx" Duffels released two albums, The Scream 1997 and No One's Laughing 2003.
Schizo Phrenia lost their rhythm section in 2002 and the recruitment of Jozie Reay and Mr Marc Devine along with Jack, Skin and Dave produced the third album Tear It Apart.
Highlights for the band include: Sweetwaters 1999 - Big day in - Mushroom Ball - Television 7.
"…New Plymouth band Schizo Phrenia describe their music as pagan, distorted heavy rock and one listen to the album confirms they are indeed a heavy bunch…" - New Zealand Musician 200
