Ahjay Stelino is a professional songwriter, music producer and registered music therapist from Auckland, New Zealand.
He has released 3 albums to date. His latest release EP, Makes Me Smile is a singer-songwriter album that entwines his understanding of life from working as music therapist with his years a professional songwriter to create an album for the everyday person.
His EP, Wanna Be Like a Kiwi is a collection of original Kiwi kids song. His album, Music Therapy Songs for Special Kids is a collection of songs especially composed for kids with special needs based upon his years of experience in working in this field.
Ahjay has been a professional musician for over 15 years. Ahjay has produced over 400 commercially released songs for clients all over the globe. He owns and operates Stelino Studios, a world-class professional recording studio in Auckland. He is full writer member of the Australia Performing Rights Association (APRA). In 2017 and 2014, Ahjay was a winner in the New Zealand Ukulele Festival Uke-Can-Do-It songwriting competition with his songs Happy Holidays and Ukulele Day. In 2015, Ahjay won the songwriting competition hosted by the “World Federation of Music” for their 30 anniversary celebrations with the song WFMT. He plays a range of instruments including the guitar, bass, piano, drums and percussion.
Ahjay Stelino is a practising registered music therapist. He holds a Masters degree with First Class Honours in Music Therapy from the New Zealand School of Music – MMusTher (Hons). He is registered with the New Zealand Music Therapy Registration Board (registration is under his real name of Ajay Castelino). He has over 10 years of experience working therapeutically with music within the field of special needs and also experience in the field of mental health. He currently works as a music therapist at a school for students with Blind and Low Vision in Auckland, New Zealand.
