Albica

Bio

Albica is a Multi Instrumental Arranging Producer that you may have seen live or on various T.V Shows with artists varying from alternative Rock to Dub Reggae to Cabaret to Hip Hop, on instruments varying from electric and upright Bass, electric and acoustic Guitar and drums, as well as keyboards.

He is instantly recognisable by his dark sunglasses and white cane that he uses to get around with.

Since moving to Hamilton in 2001 to undertake a commercial music degree at Wintec, Albica has enjoyed an often thrilling career that has seen him work with some amazing talent, including a performance at the 2003 Indeginous Hip Hop Festival, the 2004 Matariki Maori New Year celebrations even the opening of the Maori Party in Wanganui as a session musician with the "Native Sons". Another Session with the group saw him playing on the election night Live on Maori Tv.

Another intersting session was with "Eastbound Train" a half chinese half new zealander rock band that played for the chinese new year and later played Support for "The Unbound" at a show at Altitude Bar in Hamilton.

In "The Unbound" Albica puts down the backing instruments behind Singer singwriter and Live music /Open mic night wizard Nick Hohepas masterful songwriting. They mixed and mastered a track at York St. Studios (Ordinary Girl).

After playing the song live on good morning the pair flew to christchurch and filmed a video which was directed by shuricken Productions.

Not long after that Albica and Nick were to Join NZ music Legend John Rowles on stage at Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre, behind them was a philharmonic orchestra with members of the NZSO in it.

This coincided with the aforementioned single "Ordinary girl" being selected to go on the NZ ON AIR Hit Disc whcich is sent to every radio station in NZ.

The same week C4, Pepsi chart, Coke New releases and Juice featured the song which stayed on Select Live for about six weeks.

After numerous performances all over the place Nick and Albica played alongside che fu and ladi7 at the Auckland Zoo to end the summer jam shows they were having there.

this is a short descritopn of the things that have happened for Albica, there have also been overseas stints working in rather interesting capacities before and since moving to Hamilton.

Keep your eyes out for Albica's next project which may be a highlight for the year if all goes to plan...
