Local Chaos were a second generation punk band inspired by the first generation of (AK79) NZ bands and the wave of UK punk that swept the globe. They were formed in 1980(ish) by Adrian (who looked about 13), Trevor Ofamo'oni, Miles Gray (son of the famous Charley Gray) and joined by Martin Byrne and Brett (Ballsack) Orams .

Rehearsing in studios on Anzac Avenue was always a choatic affair and usually followed by getting drunk and then trying to avoid getting their heads kicked in by the numerous gangs of the time who all semed to find a common enemy in the punk. A lot of the songs were favourite covers by bands such as The Ruts, Killing Joke, Cockney Rejects, Pistols, Stooges etc. with a spattering of originals such as Ados Party and the Local Chaos Themetrack.

First gigs were at punk parties in and around Auckland and supporting upper tier of Auckland punk bands culminating in the Punk Warmed Up festival at Main Street where you had to take your boots off at the door and get a girl to smuggle them in for you as the policy of the day reflected the level of violence on the streets at the time. Martin was pulled off stage by an over enthusiastic fan (his mate Dean!) and knocked out on the wooden floor, carried off backstage and then came to and proceded with the rest of the gig. That was probably a small insignificant bands finest hour and although Local Chaos made no impact whatsoever on the NZ music scene they were at one time an important part of a small group of peoples lives.

Martin left for the UK via Melbourne in 1985 and went on to spend many years in eclectic electro avante garde industrial band Thule who released 2 EP's and 2 albums "Wheel" and "321 Normal 2" Before forming breakbeat band The Big Boss. He now resides in the land of his father, Manchester.

Miles and Trevor still live in Auckland although Miles and Martin played in various bands together in the UK recording 2 albums together with The Australian Stooges (none of which were!) and Phil Schoenfelt "God is the other face of the devil"

I heard Brett Orams still lives in NZ and I never saw Adrian again so boys.....if you're out there......
