Life is Hell got together in mid-2007, playing downtuned mix of d-beat and metallic crust with the goal to put some aggression and movement back into the Christchurch punk scene. From the start it was decided to put an emphasis on the feel and motive behind a song, rather than unnecessary technicality or musical standards.

Members play/have played in such bands as ScrumpyCharge, Captains Log, 290, Oi's II Men and Terrorist.

We have recently finished recording our 2008 Demo. Recorded at the Crown Hotel (Dunedin) by Roger Grauwmeijer, with assistance by Matt Jellica. It should be out by the end of February at the latest.

There are also plans to release a split with Dunedin band Conniption sometime 2008.
