My Life Story

Bio

Previously known as Nevertheless, the My Life Story (MLS) quartet formed in 2001 while at school, when the four friends made a decision to enter the Smokefree Rockquest competition.

Over the next couple of years, a change in their line up saw a strengthening in their friendships, the development of a polished and energetic stage show, and most importantly the emergence of the sound that is setting this band apart. Their once pop punk roots has progressed into more of a pop rock sound. With gripping guitar lines, MLS have found the perfect balance between the raw heart of rock and the melodic sense of pop – add to this a landscape of strings, piano and loops and you have a sound that demands your attention.

2004/2005 saw the band touring throughout New Zealand (70 shows in 12 months), playing concerts in High Schools, and entering Battle of the Bands (winning two of them). The Summer months were spent performing at a number of NZ music festivals and events, and tripping across the ditch to Australia for a 10 day mini tour (including a Mainstage appearance at a Brisbane music festival), all adding up to a constant rise of popularity for this young band.

Their growing fanbase were soon putting pressure on the band to release a CD, so the boys entered the studio in late 2004 to record their first four track EP. It was decided that the first track off that EP, 'Youthful Romances', would be taken as a limited release to radio. The song received strong, positive feedback receiving airplay on The Edge network.

MLS have been selected as the touring band for the 2005 New Zealand Schools Tour. This will see the band taking their high-energy show to the country, from Invercargill to Whangarei. In a 5-month period, the band will play over 100 shows to thousands of high school students making them the hardest working band in New Zealand. If you are not currently familiar with this band – you soon will be.

Currently the band is in pre-production for the recording of a brand new single 'Falling Out'. They will enter the studio in mid-march followed closely by the shooting of a music video for the song.

MY LIFE STORY is a band with commitment and passion to their music. The quick rise of this band is something to be taken notice of…watch this space!
