AJA

Bio

An established force to be reckoned with across Aotearoa music, AJA (Aja Wairere Ropata - Ngati Raukawa, Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai, Ngati Toa Rangatira, Ngati Porou) made a name for herself after taking home the 2022 Maioha Silver Scroll Award for waiata Te Iho - a collaboration with Byllie-Jean and Chris Wethey. Since then, she’s toured with L.A.B, been a cast member of popular Fly My Pretties 'Elemental' 2024, headlined Newtown Festival, performed at CubaDupa, the Matariki Awards and opened Wellington’s Kia Mau Festival with her self-produced show Manawa Pao.

AJA's most recent single True Love (2023) made several appearances across the RadioScope Airplay Charts, NZ Official Hot NZ Singles Chart, and the SRN Top 10 - peaking at #1 in the latter. This year, she released her enthralling single Quiet Storm ft. Ma and performed 2024 Silver Scroll Award winner Anna Coddington’s single Katuarehe at the awards in Poneke! With the release of her debut album KAWAI, AJA is truly an Aotearoa music legend in the making.
