Peachy Keen

Bio

Peachy Keen is a four-piece Auckland-based band whose sound has been described as dark lounge Pop with Jazz, retro and Rock influences. Their use of Piano and Violin gives the band a sophisticated point of difference. Peachy Keen's songs range from satirical to theatrical to sublimely melancholy.

Vocalist Kathryn van Beek has been described by the Listener as "feline", and a track released on Monkey Records compilation Monkey Magic was described by a critic as "an excellent piece with sensual, wandering vocals". Peachy Keen consists of bass player, songwriter and singer Kathryn van Beek, classically trained pianist Nigel Braddock, jazz drummer Ben Lockwood and jazz/country violinist Tamasin Taylor.

Peachy Keen are signed to indie record label Monkey Records and have had Bnet radio play. Their first music video, Big Truck, was filmed as part of the 48hr film competition, and was screened at The Odeon Lounge and at Short Fuse.

Peachy Keen disbanded in early 2005.
