The Jukes emerged from the deep blues tradition and were formed in 2006 with the vision of bringing something different to the New Zealand music scene. The premise of the band is uncompromising authenticity, as faithful to the original Chicago blues as possible. That means maximum danceability.

In the age of artificial and synthesized meaningless pop, The Jukes are as much of a cause as a band, playing genuine, emotional music that you can dance to. The shuffling feet and shaking hips that accompany a Jukes performance are a testament to that.

Theirs is the balanced sound of classic Chicago blues tunes, where each separate band member creates the ensemble. It's an honest voice crying out love and pain. a hypnotic body-tempo rhythm drawing you into the music's core. You can let it move you and dance to it, or just let it wash over you. The blues touches you where it hurts, then it heals you.

The band consists of vocals, harmonica, guitar, bass and drums in the classic Chicago tradition. The set list includes classics from such legends as Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed and Slim Harpo and a couple of original tunes have also found their way into The Jukes performances.
