Murphy Moore is a captivating singer-songwriter from Aotearoa, New Zealand. The Auckland based singer weaves tales of love, loss and wanderlust using indie pop melodies with a touch of country charm.

With a voice that is equal parts honeyed and haunting, Murphy invites listeners into her world where vulnerability is celebrated. Her debut single, For The Most Part, explores the art of pretending. Inspired by a messy breakup, the song reflects on the extreme highs and lows we often feel whilst navigating through a change of the heart. This single marks the first from her upcoming EP, Break, due for release in October 2024.

Originally from Southland, NZ, Murphy grew up in a large musical family. Her father is a drummer and most of her siblings sing. After watching her older brother play and write for many years, she decided to teach herself guitar and begin writing.

During her Otago University years, you’d often find Murphy gigging in local Dunedin bars and testing out new songs among a supportive student audience. After university, Murphy moved to Sydney on scholarship to study Dance at ED5 Performing Arts School. Here, she honed her performance craft and delved deeper into her songstress persona.

She moved to Auckland in 2021 and works as a dance teacher and performer. She has been in a wide array of productions, including being a resident performer for ‘Club Burlesque’, a guest entertainer on the P&O cruise ships, playing Donna in the production of ‘Dancing Queen’ and performing at corporate events.

For Murphy, songwriting has been survival; a way to safely journey through an array of emotions and experiences, finding meaning and closure along the way. She hopes that her original songs and the stories that go with them will help her audience find the same. Murphy’s music blends raw emotion with the infectious hooks of indie pop. Her heartfelt lyrics and melodies that linger will have you singing along for days to come.
