Michael has been playing bass since 1989, and synthesizer for about the same amount of time. He began playing guitar in 1993.
From 1990 to 1997 he played in a band called Nutbar, playing a range of styles from metal & grunge through to funk.
During 1997 NFS (New Funk Sound) formed out of the break-up of Nutbar. They spent a year experimenting with jazz & funk sounds.
During 1998-1999 Michael worked both solo and collaboratively, producing electronic music in a range of dance & ambient styles.
Small scale CD releases have been made from 1998 to 2003 under the names Phase 4 Stereo, the Boogie Monster, and Black Art.
During 2002/2003 Michael has continued to work in a solo situation, nurturing a concept which has evolved into the project Esoteric.
Influences include Herbie Hancock, New Order, Morrissey, The Cure, Nick Cave, The Stone Roses, Portishead, and The Pixies.
