Andy B

Bio

Andy's introduction to dance music began in the early nineties with infamous Eden events such as 'The Gate' and the early visits of acts such as Thomas Heckman and NZ's Mechanism allongside Wellington's own Headstrong crew providing Wellington it's first introduction to underground dance music.

From this introduction, Andy alongside keen partners in crime, Dave Wright (DJ Quamay) and Reece (lost knowledge) began spinning the wheels of steel any where they could wether it be on after-hours hijacking of Wellington's Radio Active at 3am or parties of their own where they could.

This lead on to Andy promoting various events indoor and outdoor from 1995 thru to 1999 at venues such as Shed 6 on the Wellington waterfront and any unused warehouse space that could find.

Thru this promoting and early DJing, Andy promoted many mad underground events with the likes of Japan's lord of the energy Yogi Biomenhenika, ex-Chch rave superstar DJ OB1 and countless other DJs from Wellington and all over New Zealand.

From 1999 to present day, Andy has worked for Wellington's largest club/venue Phoenix, as resident and handling all inhouse promotions which included promoting and DJing alongside such acts as Mrs Wood, Mark Tyler, Transa, Mark Dynamix, K90, Dave Randell, Steve Hill, Taylor, Daniel Ro, Bexta, Ian M, Nick Sentience, Andy Farley, Tom Middleton, Derick May, Lab 4, Steve Blake, The Space Brothers and many more. In 1999 Firm Fm was also born onto the Wellington airwaves by Andy B, Ryan (Firm Records) and Mike Brosnahan.

Firm has been providing fine underground delicacies over The air for almost three years now and is proving to get stronger and stronger by the day with a wide range selection Of Wellington's dance community contributing from evey angle -trance, prog, hardhouse, drum & bass, hip-hop, house, breaks and many more.

As production manager, Andy handles all sound interaction i.e. Advertising, production and sound engineering.

Current resident also for Fevah NZ, playing every Wellington event since 1999, and Vespa Lounge house styles every Thursday and Friday. Andy has played regularly at almost every single club/bar in Wellingtons dance scene which includes Studio Nine, Subnine, Tatou, Pound, Phoenix, Vespa, La Luna, Paradiso, Starlightballroom, B4, Indigo and Diva bar.
